Themes may be love, hate or friendship. Contrastingly, ‘ideas’ are messages or key takeaways for readers. They are deeper in meaning. Ideas may be ‘hardships shape how an individual develops personal values’ or ‘communication is key to resolving emotional complexities’. So next when you are asked to think of an ‘idea’, think of something that you learned, or a message that would be useful for the outside world (something like a meaningful quote or similar).
